Lightning Society Dinner Series

 

Lightning Society invited an intimate group to dine with them, featuring one of our community's most beloved plant-based chefs, Carly Feldman. This exploration of traditional German flavors through locally sourced plant based ingredients was combined with live performance and delicious conversations centered around the power of supporting local and how new language becomes a portal to new connection.

Poet & mindfulness practitioner Lauren Ducrey guided our evening through an exploration of poetry and the power & possibility of non-native language to shape our connection. After the meal somatic sound artist Yuj Archetype took us on a digestive journey through breath and multicultural music. 

What: An intentional dinner fusing Carly's German inspiration with her NYC community ft. entirely locally sourced ingredients + creative cultural explorations rooted in mindfulness from 2 of NYCs most multifaceted practitioners.

I was so excited and honored to return to my beloved New York to bring together some of the things I love most: food, culture, sustainability and community. I highlighted some German-inspired flavors and dishes; a cuisine and a food culture often over-looked and misunderstood… but one that has grown very near and dear to my heart after having spent the last 6+ months in Germany, my new home.

Like all the best world cuisines, German cuisine, too, has deep historical and cultural roots that blend tradition with regional flavor to make the cuisine uniquely special. Way more than just schnitzel and bratwurst, I could hardly wait to share some of my favorite German-inspired dishes… but this time with a special vegan touch.

Sourcing all ingredients from a variety of local farms and farmers in the region, I fused the best products of New York with the best flavors of Germany. Focused on and specializing in utilizing seasonal and local produce through my globally-inspired dishes, I was honored and excited to connect with new and old friends through food. 🌿
